  • Nicola Jarvis - Morris Dancer

‘The Art of Embroidery: Nicola Jarvis and May Morris’

A stunning illustrated presentation documenting Nicola designing, staging and touring her popular exhibition inspired by the design practice of William Morris’ daughter May Morris, at the William Morris Gallery in Walthamstow in 2013 and selected stately homes from 2013 to 2016.

  • ‘For Pleasure and Ornament’

This is the compelling story of Nicola’s extensive career in embroidery, from training as an apprentice at the Royal School of Needlework in 1991, to working as a sample embroiderer in the British fashion industry, and developing her current art practice combining drawing, embroidery and kit production.

  • ‘The Needle’s Excellency’

A fascinating and colourful documentary that shows how Nicola guided a group of adult learners, under the auspices of Ornamental Embroidery with colleague Dr Lynn Hulse, in the making of 20 individual C17th style raised work caskets. The course was run at the Ashmolean Museum and the completed embroidered caskets were exhibited there in May 2017. They went on to be displayed in the Textile Gallery at all the Knitting and Stitching Shows in autumn 2018.
